The PRESIDENT’S PICK October 2015
Sit back, close your eyes and let your imagination run loose on all those things that make your taste buds tingle!
A velvety taste of chocolate?
A crunchy crackle of macaroons?
A tangy morsel of exotic fruit?
The nose-tickling aroma of rich spices?
The warm trickle of a full-bodied wine?
The list is long and the future rosy for Valérie Touraine, CEO of Degust&Co, the Lyon startup that allows you to organize the tasting event of your choice, where and when you want
What better way for WPNG to connect with the vibrant Lyon community than by choosing the emblematic startup Degust&Co founded by Valérie Touraine who hails originally from Montpellier. Valérie portrays the energy and enthusiasm of today’s Millenial women who are passionate about life and are not afraid to steer off the beaten track. In a little under 8 years Valérie graduated as a computer engineer, joined an international group as a business development manager, ran a team of sales consultants then enrolled in a Master’s of Business programme at EMLyon with the clear intention of setting up her own business.
Degust&Co is not just another type of ‘tasting’ venture it’s a concept that is cut out to fit the mindset of today’s leisure and pleasure seekers. Partying with a difference, in your own home or at a venue of your choice for a handful of guests or for many more, Degust&Co makes it easy for you to compare a broad range of services and providers who will then customize your choice to your heart’s (and guests’) content. Simple as click and go, www.degustandco.com, has been running since early this year, spreading rapidly all over France with the clear ambition of stepping beyond its borders to the rest of Europe.
It all seems so easy and yet success does not immediately rhyme with profitability. The life of a solo entrepreneur is made up of endless working hours and a cohort of ups and downs that call for awareness and need to be addressed on a daily basis. It is generally that feeling that you are on to a good thing that helps you pick yourself up and keep on trying just as you are about to give up. Beyond that, however, support is essential and, in Lyon, it comes in different shapes and sizes. Incubators, co-working spaces, shared services, are part of the city scape to encourage and boost innovative startups. They all provide an environment that favours collaboration, exchange of know-how and knowledge, breaking down financial as well as psychological or mental barriers. In a nutshell, when you choose to set up your business in Lyon there are plenty of opportunities to back up your project.
Our aim at WPNG is to point the way to finding them, inspire and motivate you to keep moving forward. You, as a member of WPNG, are a bridge builder – just like Valérie Touraine.
So as the end of the year party season begins to kick off, why not do it in style and surprise your friends by inviting them to a Degust&Co event?
Let’s be true to our motto ‘connect, share, advance’ and support Valerie Touraine’s ambition to spread her wings internationally.
